However, I liked how it ended, including the romance. (Yes, upon rewatching it, I totally forgot who the killer was and was surprised when he/she was revealed with the lollipop clue.) Also, how the killer was caught involved silly antics that belonged more in a Saturday kids show like Batman than a grounded serious anime like Erased. When the big baddie was revealed though, it hurt the wholesome, altruistic message of the show. Regardless, rushed or not, it was still thrilling the plot twists and mindgames with the killer were exciting to watch.
Also the ending was kind of rushed, since there are 3 other girls to save, but not enough episodes to dive into the how. The show lost that unique setting, and the characters in the present lack much depth (since we the audience have been watching the past characters).
ERASED ANIME DUB ONLINE SERIES
Some of the problems with the series are when Satoru go back to the present midway into the series. And the ED in particular has a unique minimalist art style that reminds me of Shaft's Monogatari series. In addition, Kayo's moments were beautiful. The plot hits quickly when the bass drops in episode 1 for the first time travel. The only shows with comparable settings I have seen might be Non Non Biyori or Laid-back Camp (both subbed only).Īs for how good the show is, I consider it an amazing entry show.
If only other time travel anime had such strong starts ( cough Steins Gate).Įrased has an immersive and unique setting, a snow-filled elementary school, with one particular scene where the characters camp in a school bus. Earlier this year I rewatched it dubbed, and the first few episodes hooked me in (comparable to other amazing starts like Death Note). I even added it to my list of favorite shows on Facebook.
